The word ‘photography’ literally means “Light (photo) Writing (graphy). Each photograph is a carefully worded essay or poem about my subject.
When composing a photograph, the most important question is, “What is this a picture of?” The language of black and white photography is my favorite language to answer in.
By stripping away all unnecessary visual information, we reveal the heart of the matter: human emotion. By freezing time, we receive the gift of photography: the ability to contemplate the ordinary in an extraordinary way.
